Copycat Nails #2 - Polish Art Addiction

Hey guys, hope you are all well. Been a bit absent of late as I have had a lot going on with stressful work and even more stressful car breakdowns. Booooo! Finally some good news. Sunshine and heat have arrived, even though its only been for about 3 days I'm still loving wearing nice things. Most importantly, NO COATS! Yaaaaay!

This was my lovely wee boy:

In other news, I have 2 exciting bits of news to share. I have booked to go back to Tokyo next year! I can hardly believe it. I thought when I went last year it was totally a once in a lifetime thing and didn't think I would get the chance to go back. I was supposed to be going to Florida but I just couldn't stop thinking about Tokyo so I just went for it. I promise I'll try not to mention until after this years holidays are done with.

Second piece of news I'm getting a kitten! I can't believe this either. My darling beloved wee cat Zaza died almost 4 years ago now and to say I was devastated would be an understatement. He was 19 and I never remembered life without him. People kept asking if I would ever get another one and I said no as I couldn't go through that again, plus I didn't want him to think I was replacing him. Its got a wee bit easier through time and I've softened. I want a friend I can cuddle up to and tell all my problems. So its not born yet, due next month and hopefully with me in September. I will burst with excitement.

Anyway, I finally managed to get my hands on China Glaze For Audrey. Yeah only took me forever. I absolutely love the colour and Audrey Hepburn is one of my favourite, so perfect.

I knew exactly the mani I wanted to do ever since I first came across it and since I was armed with my new For Audrey and new brushes from Born Pretty (more about them another time) I thought I'd give it ago.

So I first came across this here where the amazing Leslie does fabulous freehand nail art, including Disney! Eeeeek! I would love to be that awesome one day.

Here is my attempt (which isn't a direct copy but more on that later):

Yuk! Awful picture but I was at work with an iPhone so sue me.

Here's what I used:

No7 So Smooth Base Coat*
China Glaze For Audrey
Wet n Wild Black Creme
Barry M Nail Art Pen in White
Seche Vite
Sellotape
Brushes from Born Pretty

I am so super chuffed with this effort considering its my first real attempt at freehand nails. Yes I know its hardly proper freehand but I'm taking it. I was so bummed at having to take this off, it lasted nearly a week.

So I know its not a direct copy but this is actually my second attempt at this design and this is because I did try to copy it directly and totally screwed up the dots. Who can't do dots?! Its must be the easiest thing to do and I screwed it up. So I actually preferred doing it without.

  1. Great effort! the worst thing about freehand is whilst I can sorta pull off the left hand... my right is always a disaster zone :) I love that teal colour, lookd great with the black and white

    1. Thanks Loz! So true about your non dominant hand, how good to be ambidextrous.

  5. I think that dots would actually be difficult because you need to freehand circles o.o
